“Injured employees are often told by their supervisors to file a CA2a when an old injury appears to have resurfaced.”
CA2a – This Notice of Recurrence is used for patients to report a condition that has resurfaced after a period of time when previous CA1 or CA2 cases have resolved and possibly closed. This is reported to and filled out with the supervisor.
Injured employees are often told by their supervisors to file a CA2a when an old injury appears to have resurfaced. However, patients should first consult with their physician to make sure it’s the old injury and not something new. One example is a knee injury. The knee has multiple ligaments, cartilage, bones, and tendons. Patients often can’t be completely certain of the source of new symptoms. If the condition is new, the patient should fill out a CA1 or CA2 (based on how the condition occurred) rather than a CA2a.
